It was voted best political book of the year: Hill Times. ©Diana Murphy/PMO Jean-Marc Carisse has covered the political scene on Parliament Hill for over 30 years in both the Prime Minister's Office, the National Liberal Caucus and as an independent photographer.  He served Prime Ministers Trudeau, Turner and Chrétien as official photographer.  He also photographed consecutive P.M.s from Diefenbaker to Harper, US Presidents from Ford to Obama and hundreds of world leaders.  Many of his photographs have appeared on the covers and pages of history and political books (including his own "Privileged Access w/ Trudeau, Turner & Chrétien"  Warwick Publ. 2000),  magazines including Time, Paris Match and Maclean's, as well as TV documentaries and biographies.  He graduated with a BA in Visual Arts from the University of Ottawa. Carisse has donated approx. 69,000 negatives several years ago to the National Archives of Canada and his P.M.Chrétien collection (approx. 400,000 negatives) were donated in 2005.  He plans on donating more of the Trudeau-Chrétien years in the future. His photo exhibit "My Trudeau Years" at Library and Archives Canada, which had been extended twice by popular demand, reflected his professional relationship with Trudeau and their mutual respect .  Eight weeks before his passing, Trudeau met with him and agreed to be photographed once more on his last day at his Heenan Blaikie office in Montreal, choosing his poses as he did many times before.  It was their final sitting. Jean-Marc Carisse is a recipient of the Queen's Golden Jubilee Medal and  continues to work as a photojournalist and portrait photographer in Ottawa. It was voted 'best political book of the year' by Hill Times. It contains hundreds of photographs featuring his shadowing of the three prime ministers.       His exhibit "My Trudeau Years" (Oct.25, 2002 to April 24, 2003) at the Library and Archives of Canada,  showcased a collection of 57 mostly unpublished photographs that chronicle Prime Minister Pierre Elliott Trudeau as Prime Minister, Opposition Leader and as private citizen, over the last quarter century.  It began touring at the Pavilion Gallery Museum in Winnipeg on June, 2003       Photos featured in the exhibit “The Charter. It’s Ours.
